(Privacy Protection Policy)
This policy outlines the university’s practices for handling personal data, including the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information. It adheres to principles designed to protect personal data from privacy violations, which may cause inconvenience or harm to the data subject. At the same time, it ensures the necessary use of personal data for the purposes intended during its collection.
Respect for Privacy Rights
Clause 1: The university respects and values individual privacy and the protection of personal data. The university recognizes that individuals who use its services—whether for education, research, academic and professional development, or other missions of the university—expect their personal data to be safeguarded, with security assured in all university services.
Clause 2: Personal data such as name, age, address, phone number, ID card number, and financial information, which can identify the data subject, will be used only for the university’s operational purposes. The university will implement strict security measures to prevent unauthorized use or disclosure of personal data.
Limited Collection of Personal Data
Clause 3: The university will collect personal data only to the extent necessary and within its authority, as permitted by law or under Section 24 of the Official Information Act B.E. 2540. Should the university wish to use personal data for other purposes, it will notify the data subject and obtain their consent, unless otherwise authorized by law.
Clause 4: Personal data collection and retention will be conducted lawfully and fairly, limited to what is necessary for the university’s operations or electronic transactions.
Clause 5: The university will seek consent from the data subject before collecting personal data, except in cases where:
- The data is used for historical or archival records.
- It is necessary for research or statistical purposes, adhering to ethical research standards.
- It is to prevent or mitigate harm to life, body, or health.
- It pertains to contracts or obligations between the university and the data subject.
- It is required by law.
Clause 6: The university will not collect sensitive personal data—such as race, political opinions, religious beliefs, or health information—unless:
- Consent is obtained.
- It is required by law.
- It benefits the data subject, and obtaining consent is not feasible at that time.
- It is necessary for research or statistical purposes.
Clause 7: The university may integrate personal data with data from other sources when necessary and only with the data subject’s consent.
Purpose of Personal Data Collection
Clause 8: Personal data is collected for university operations, education, research, or statistics, and to enhance service efficiency.
Clause 9: Any change in the purpose of data collection will be communicated to the data subject, and new consent will be sought.
Clause 10: The data subject has the right to decide whether the university may collect, use, or disclose their data for purposes beyond those stated.
Clause 11: For analysis, monitoring, and compliance with applicable laws, the university collects log files and other online activity data as required by law.
Data Security
Clause 17: The university enforces appropriate measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data, preventing unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
Data Subject Rights
Clause 18: Data subjects may request information about their personal data and the university will respond promptly.
Clause 20: Data subjects have rights to:
- Request copies or certified copies of their personal data.
- Request corrections to ensure data accuracy.
- Suspend the use or disclosure of their data.
- Request deletion or destruction of their data.
Amendments to the Policy
Clause 24: The university may update this policy as necessary and will notify data subjects before changes take effect.
